Big White Boundary Road Trip

An all-season adventure, the Big White Boundary Road Trip will get your adrenaline pumping. From Route 97 in Kelowna, connect with Highway 33 and head south approximately 33 km (20.5 mi) until you see the turnoff for Big White Road. Turn left and drive up the mountain for 23 km (14.3 mi) to arrive at Big White Ski Resort. Though known for its champagne powder, Big White is also home to mountain biking and hiking in the summer months.

As you continue down Highway 33, you’ll find the Kettle Valley Rail (KVR) Trail section of The Great Trail (formerly known as the Trans Canada Trail) running parallel to the highway. Hike or bike a section of the trail, stay the night at Hydraulic Lake Campground or cool off in the water at Idabel Lake.

It’s approximately 48 km (30 mi) from the Big White turnoff to the small community of Beaverdell. With ample hiking and camping in the area, it is a great stop for an ice cream on a warm summer day.

Westbridge is just 35 km (22 mi) south and provides easy access to the KVR Trail. With lush forests, wildflowers and larch trees, the outdoors are beckoning. Relax by the water or cast your line in the Kettle River where rainbow trout are known to be present.

Connect with Highway 3 just 13 km (8 mi) south and head west to connect with the desert border town of Osoyoos or east to continue your journey through Boundary Country towards Grand Forks.
